Qualification gained
On completion of the Adult Teaching section you will be awarded the Buteyko Breathing Association Adult teaching certificate and can use the abbreviation BBA (Adult cert). On completion of the Child Teaching section you will be awarded the Buteyko Breathing Association Child teaching certificate and can use the abbreviation BBA (Child cert). Child techniques can also be used for Adults. The Practitioner can therefore use Child techniques within their current scope of practice even if they are an adult specialist.

Entry requirement
A degree (or equivalent) qualification in a healthcare profession, for example in Physiotherapy, Nursing, Osteopathy, Chiropractic etc. To check if your qualification is acceptable please contact Gillian Austin.

Module overview
Historical background & summary of published clinical trials.
Discussion of BBT scientific basis & theory.
Assessment, precautions, contraindications & outcome measures.
Practical techniques including nose clearing exercises, control, extended and maximum pauses, relaxed, reduced, slow and very reduced breathing, stop cough technique, quick fix, movement sequences.
Adult sets & child steps sets.
Buteyko exercise and activity advice.

Module composition
Pre-Course work Completion is a requirement of the course
DVD, book and CD, plus reflective diary and worksheets will be sent to trainees to be completed before the course to introduce concepts and gain practical experience. The pre-course pack will be sent following payment of the full course fee. The pre-coursework involves personal practice of the technique and may take a minimum of 9 hours over
a 2 week period.

Post-coursework
Successful competition of post-coursework is a requirement of the course. Please note the Adult post-coursework,
and therefore the Adult Certificate, must be completed before the Child certificate post-coursework can be attempted.
Adult Certificate To be completed within 6 months following the taught course
Case Studies: Trainees are required to submit 5 detailed case studies for assessment. The post-course teaching and
submission of case studies cover a minimum of 25 sessions, equating to approximately 25 hours.
Coursework: Present a PowerPoint presentation on BBT or write a professional article on BBT for a journal,
magazine, newspaper, website etc.
Child Certificate To be completed within 9 months following the taught course
Case Studies: Trainees are required to submit 3 detailed case studies for assessment. The post-course teaching and
submission of case studies cover a minimum of 15 sessions, equating to approximately 15 hours.

Course fee includes:
Light refreshments and lunch during three day training course
Pre-course workbook
Buteyko DVD, CD and handbook.
Course manual
Certificate of attendance
Marking of reflective diary, worksheets, case studies and PowerPoint presentation or professional article.
On completion, BBA (Adult cert) & BBA (Child cert) certificates.
On completion one year full membership to the Buteyko Breathing Association allowing members to use the
initials MBBA after their name to indicate their membership.

Balance
The balance of the course fee of £525 must be received by Friday 18th August 2017. Full payment of £625 is
required to secure a place on bookings made after this date.
Cancellation terms
The deposit is non-refundable.
100% of the course fee (minus the deposit) will be refunded if notice of cancelation is given more than 12 weeks prior to the start of the course.
50% of the course fees (minus deposit) will be refunded if notice of cancelation is given between 7-12 weeks prior to the start of the course.
No refund will be given if notice to cancel is given after 7 weeks prior to the start of the course. This is to enable the organisers to prepare and send out pre-coursework in a timely manner so students can complete
this work prior to start of the course.

Travel & Accommodation
The course will be confirmed on or before Monday 21st August 2017. Please do not book any non-refundable travel or accommodation before the course is confirmed. In the unlikely event of course cancelation ‘Teaching Buteyko’ cannot be held liable for cost of accommodation or travel booked prior to course confirmation. If the course is cancelled deposits will be returned or applicants can choose to defer their place to a future course.
