National Institute of Health Research
The NIHR commissions and funds NHS, social care and public health research that is essential for delivering our responsibilities in public, health and personal social services. Its role is to develop the research evidence to support decision making by professionals, policy makers and patients, make this evidence available, and encourage its uptake and use in order to provides clinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice, to make informed decisions.
The NIHR has specific research calls throughout the year as well as distinct funding streams. It also offers funded MRes places for allied health professionals at a number of universities.
