The Allied Health Professionals Research Network (AHPRN).

The Allied Health Professionals Research Network (AHPRN) aims to encourage and facilitate engagement in research by allied health professionals nationally. This means not only encouraging growth in the numbers of researchers involved in AHP research, but also increasing the amount of research produced – and its integration and implementation into practice. The AHPRN’s vision is to establish a collaborative national network of locally-responsive hubs, so as to promote increased awareness and capacity, and facilitate high-quality research activity that will be relevant to practitioners and respond to health care needs. The AHPRN has 20 regional research clusters known as ‘hubs’, which are based in higher education institutions and linked with local clinicians and managers. Hub activities and support that may be available to you include:

  • peer review
  • advice on research training and funding opportunities
  • mentorship schemes
  • information on research resources
  • sharing good research practice
  • disseminating recent research outcomes
  • raising awareness of research taking place in your region

Now, the AHPRN has come together with the Research Forum for Allied Health Professionals to create the Council for Allied Health Professions (CAHPR).

The CAHPR was created in 2014 by bringing together the Research Forum for Allied Health Professionals (RFAHP) and the Allied Health Professions Research Network (AHPRN), both of which had been in place for a number of years.

CAHPR is supported by 12 AHP organisations, listed below. The council comprises a strategy committee, a professoriate and a UK-wide regional hub network.

With excellent opportunities for learning, sharing, networking, collaborations and access to advice and support, CAHPR strengthens the professions’ research activities and outputs facilitating the translation of research findings into practice and education.
