An investigation into current UK practice for screening patients with tracheostomy tubes for swallowing difficulties

Dear Colleagues,

An investigation into current UK practice for screening patients with tracheostomy tubes for swallowing difficulties

I am asking for your help with a study which involves an online survey, and if you wish, a follow up telephone interview. You do not have to agree to a telephone interview in order to complete the online survey.

I am doing this study to find out about current UK practice for screening patients with tracheostomy tubes for swallowing difficulties as very little is known about this area.

This survey is being conducted by myself Aeron Ginnelly (Advanced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Critical Care) as part of a research masters in clinical practice being undertaken at St George's University , London .

You have received this e-mail as you are either a nurse, physiotherapist or speech and language therapist that is either part of a relevant specialist interest group or a colleague of yours has identified you as somebody that may wish to participate.

The online survey should take 15 to 20 minutes

At the end of the questionnaire you will see there is an invite for you to put yourself forward for taking part in a subsequent telephone interview.

Participation in the study is voluntary and you can leave the study at any time.

Your data is only sent to me when you check the final 'done' button.

All information I gain form you will be maintained in a strictly confidential manner. The only people who will have access to the information will be myself and academic supervisor. After the project, all raw data that can identify individuals will be destroyed. In reporting the project no information will be released which will enable the reader to identify who the respondent was.

Many thanks for considering participation. If you are willing to participate then click on the web link below to access the secure, anonymous online survey.

Please forward this e-mail to any other nurse, speech and language therapy or physiotherapy colleagues that you thin would be willing to participate
