Surgery Champion

I qualified from the University of Hertfordshire in 2001, and completed my junior rotations at the Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. Following this I moved to Cambridge and started working at Royal Papworth Hospital in 2003… and I never left! As the Physiotherapy Service Lead, I have management responsibility for the physiotherapy department, and clinical leadership for ICU and the surgical teams.I completed my MSc in Advanced Physiotherapy in 2015 (also at the University of Hertfordshire).

In addition to working clinically with cardiothoracic surgery ICU patients, Royal Papworth is also one of the 5 commissioned UK adult ECMO centres. I find the ECMO patients a fascinating and variable population, and thoroughly enjoy liaising with the other ECMO physiotherapists via the ECMO Physiotherapy Network which we established in 2013.
