Research Dissemination:
The ACPRC is pleased to support and promote the research activities of its members, with the overarching aim of improving care and outcomes for patients with respiratory conditions.
The ACPRC can assist with recruitment and participation for research including (but not limited to):
- Surveys exploring respiratory physiotherapy practice
- Invitations to participate in interviews, focus groups or Delphi consensus studies
- Recruitment to research studies relevant to respiratory physiotherapy practice
All requests for research support are considered on an individual basis
The ACPRC can share research opportunities through the following platforms:
- ACPRC monthly newsletter (circulated to all ACPRC members)
- ACPRC Respiratory Leaders email distribution list (circulated to a smaller group of physiotherapists who self-identify as leaders)
- ACPRC social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook and Blusky
The ACPRC has a responsibility to ensure that all research shared with its members is ethical and in accordance with appropriate research governance standards. As a general rule, for research involving staff, circulated via specialist interest groups such as the ACPRC, Higher Education Institute ethical committee approval is appropriate.
For research involving patients, patient data, or requiring advertisement in the healthcare/NHS setting, ethical approval must be sought through an appropriate NHS regulatory body or equivalent, typically via the Health Research Authority (HRA). This usually involves review by an NHS Research Ethics Committee and NHS Research & Development (R&D) approval.
Requests for dissemination must therefore include:
- Evidence of formal ethical approval via an appropriate channel.
- A statement confirming approval to circulate within a specialist interest group, ideally naming the ACPRC specifically.
- An approved participant information sheet or advertisement (where required).
* Appropriate ethical approval must be in place prior to dissemination *
All research dissemination requests should be sent to the ACPRC Research Champion. Requests will be reviewed by the ACPRC Research Champion to ensure they meet the required ethical standards. Once approved, dissemination will normally take place within one month, subject to newsletter schedules and communication cycles.
For any queries regarding research dissemination, development, or suitability, members are encouraged to contact the ACPRC Research Champion research@acprc.org.uk
