Charlotte Wells is a clinical specialist paediatric respiratory physiotherapist, researcher, and lecturer. With her research based at the Royal Brompton Hospital and lecturing at The University of Suffolk. Charlotte completed her post-graduate certificate for teaching in higher education in 2022 and NIHR Master’s in clinical research in 2019 and went on to gain a clinical research fellowship at The Royal Brompton Hospital and the Kings cardio-vascular and respiratory partnership innovation funding to complete research codesigning innovative ways to provide physiotherapy in a modern health care era. Charlotte’s clinical specialism is in treating breathing pattern disorders including exercise induced laryngeal obstruction, having co-written the chapter in The European Respiratory Medical Handbook on this topic. Charlotte is also a specialist teacher trainer in breathing pattern retraining Buteyko Breathing Method in the UK. Charlotte is a founding member of a national collaborative of specialist physiotherapist within the UK (Kid’s Cornerstone Collaborative) working with children with asthma and/ or dysfunctional breathing to progress current clinical practice. Charlotte has just finished leading a multi-site research project focusing on breathing retraining for teenagers with long-COVID.
